My name is Caitlin, I am 26 years old, from Long Island. I have lived in Buffalo for the past 9 years. I moved here to attend the University at Buffalo where I received my bachelor’s in Environmental Science.
I went back to school a couple of years ago and got a degree in Veterinary Technology and currently work as a Veterinary Technician at Ken-ton Animal Clinic. My boyfriend and I have a dog named Lilly, a couple dozen fish, an axalotl named Maya and I 2 rats Boots and Daisy. I have loved animals all my life and love working with them.
I was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis when I was 13. My brother and uncle have both gotten transplants as a result of the disease and my mom has had 3 transplants due to Lupus. So I truly understand what a blessing it is to receive a transplant and what wonderful gift it is for someone to give.
The beginning of October I found out that I am in need of a transplant and started the evaluation process for a preemptive kidney transplant. I hope to get one before starting dialysis so I can continue to do what I love.
Having to cut back on work to be on dialysis would mean no longer being able to support myself and ultimately having to give up my life here in Buffalo to move back home.
When I’m not working, I love going to the gym, exploring Buffalo and all the fun activities it has to offer, playing video games with my boyfriend and cuddling up with my Lilly.
My hope is that I will find a donor so I can keep an eye on an exciting future; excelling at work, buying a house, getting married, adopting a few more dogs.
